Architecting, developing and operating a scalable e-commerce platform and an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) for Magento 2 e-commerce shops built on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), using Gitlab, Terraform, Atlantis, Jenkins and Prometheus while also teaching developers the usage of state-of-the-art tools like Git, pre-commit, Terraform and Kubernetes

Projects
  • I lead the migration of a kube-prometheus-stack based monitoring stack to Google Managed Prometheus, evaluating and adapting metrics scraping and alerts in the process.

  • I developed a Python script to translate the Terraform monorepo module dependencies in a format Atlantis could parse.

  • I developed an Ansible wrapper playbook to adjust Openshift „Installer Provisioned Installations“ to the unique Deutsche Börse Cloud environment.

  • I lead the effort to automate the deployment and configuration management for web applications by using Ansible for config rollouts and Jenkins for application deployments.

  • I developed a dynamic Docker Swarm monitoring tool in Python 3 to enable the company internal monitoring solution to properly monitor dynamically changing Docker Swarms.

  • I was a key player in the effort to transform existing web applications for cloud platform (AWS and Microsoft Azure) viability via Terraform and Ansible, thusly saving costs by automatically scaling applications horizontally.

  • I was part of a team to plan and establish automated configuration management on >2000 Suse Linux Enterprise servers spanning two data centers. We used our own created tool written in Perl and Bash and set up our own Failover PostgreSQL method for it to cover the characteristics of the underlying environment.

  • I contributed to significantly reducing the ‘days to data center’ for new server orders by semi-automating the ordering and ESX installation processes.
